MEDIA ADVISORY: It’s “Baltimore Day” for Johns Hopkins Freshmen

“The idea of Baltimore Day is to get our students out of the Johns Hopkins bubble from the beginning and into places where they can learn to better understand the city that will be their home for four years,” said Justin Beauchamp, coordinator of orientation and first-year experience at the university. “We want them to appreciate the city’s history and culture and learn ways to engage in the greater Baltimore community.”

Johns Hopkins University’s incoming freshmen arrive in Baltimore this week. A highlight for the new class will be Baltimore Day, a chance to get to know the city they’ll call home over the next four years.

The Johns Hopkins University has admitted 2,525 students to complete the Class of 2019, selected from a record applicant pool of 24,717. These students joined 540 future Blue Jays who have already enrolled at the university under the Early Decision admission plan.
