The Johns Hopkins University is establishing a cutting-edge crystal growth facility as part of a national research project meant to revolutionize technology used in consumer products, industry and medicine, the National Science Foundation just announced.

Mukesh Chatter will speak at a technology management lecture and award program established by a Johns Hopkins graduate and his wife. Mukesh Chatter, along with Priti Chatter, founded the telecom company Nexabit Networks, which was acquired by Lucent in 1999. They also are co-founders of NeoSaej Corp., a Boston-based Internet startup, Mukesh Chatter has more than 18 years of experience in the architecture, design and development of networking equipment and supercomputers and has several patents associated with this work.
Nobel Prize winning physicist who is Associate Director in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy will deliver the Robert Resnick Lecture at The Johns Hopkins University at 3 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 2. Carl Wieman, who has conducted extensive research in atomic and laser physics and who shared the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2001 for the creation of a new form of matter known as “Bose-Einstein condensation,” will present “Science Education in the 21st Century: Using the Methods of Science to Teach Science” in Schafler Auditorium in the Bloomberg Center for Physics and Astronomy on the Homewood campus. The event is free and open to the public.
