 A Johns Hopkins University geologist is available to offer perspective on the powerful earthquake that struck Sunday night in Iran, killing more than 400 people and injuring more than 6,000.

Daniel Viete: An assistant professor in the Department of Earth & Planetary Sciences, Viete can provide details on the plate tectonic context and underlying geological forces that likely contributed to this earthquake.
