Johns Hopkins University leaders sent an email message on Monday, July 17, providing Homewood campus students with an additional update regarding the recent death of rising sophomore Abigail Bastien. The following is the text of the message:

Dear Students,

Last week, we shared with you the sad news of the tragic death of rising sophomore Abigail Bastien. Today, the Baltimore Police Department reported that, although the investigation remains open, all of the evidence they have at this time points to an accidental death resulting from a fall at 3700 N. Charles Street.

We want to express again our gratitude to all of you who have offered comfort and condolence to Abby’s family and friends. We will notify you when arrangements for a campus memorial service have been made.

Sincerely,

Kevin G. Shollenberger
Vice Provost for Student Affairs

Toni Blackwell
Senior Associate Dean of Student Life
