Johns Hopkins University Statement on New Public Safety Initiative

Johns Hopkins said it fully supports legislation in the General Assembly that would give the university and other independent higher education institutions in Baltimore City the authority to enter into memoranda of understanding with the Baltimore Police Department to create university police departments.

Police Commander Melissa Hyatt Joins Johns Hopkins as Security Vice President

Melissa R. Hyatt, recently named colonel of homeland security and training for the Baltimore Police Department after other significant command assignments in a career of more than 20 years, has been appointed vice president for security for Johns Hopkins.
